The Fun was EXPOnential!
Thursday, September 25th, 2008 by Patrick RossMy sympathies to anyone who didn’t make it over to the Russell Senate Caucus Room yesterday for our 2nd annual Copyright Alliance EXPOnential. Once again, Copyright Alliance members outdid themselves demonstrating the wide range of copyright industries and how those industries are innovating to bring consumers ever-more imaginative ways to enjoy creative works.
First, let me highlight our exhibitors: The American Association of Publishers; The American Federation of Television & Radio Artists; The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers; The American Society of Media Photographers; Broadcast Music, Inc.; The Entertainment Software Association; The Graphic Artists Guild; The Motion Picture Association of America; The National Music Publishers Association; The Picture Archive Council of America; The Professional Photographers of America; PPL/VPL; The Recording Industry Association of America; and Vobile for NBC Universal. (Here’s ASCAP’s encapsulation of their participation as well as AAP’s.)
We had singers, songwriters and illustrators in attendance, as well as senators, congressmen, Hill staff and anyone else who was curious — the event was open to one and all. The room was bustling the entire two hours and full of energy from all of the creativity being displayed. The MPAA had an interesting display pointing out that there were going to be motion pictures filmed in 22 different states between now and the end of the year. That is a great example of how copyright benefits all 50 states.
I’ll save for the next post the observations of some participants and attendees. Here let me just say that I really like this tradition that the Copyright Alliance is building, a tradition that correctly casts the copyright industries as united in support of copyright and united in the innovation that stems from that. I’d also be remiss if I didn’t give a shout-out to the entire Copyright Alliance team and the many hard workers at the various exhibiting organizations for making yesterday such a big success. Thanks!
