Copyright Alliance Education Foundation Launched

Today is a big day for those of us here at the Copyright Alliance. We formally announced the creation of the Copyright Alliance Education Foundation — you can learn more about it at its web site, copyrightfoundation.org. I also encourage you to read our press release as well as this fact sheet about our efforts and the positive feedback we’ve already received from educators.

The Copyright Alliance was formed with an educational mission in mind, but the Copyright Alliance Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization wholly dedicated to education. Its mission as of now is K-12 schools, and as the links above will demonstrate, we are already working with many schools across the country, and partnering directly with West Potomac Academy, an arts-focused institution including students from every Fairfax County, Virginia, high school. I am looking forward to volunteering my time with the Foundation.

Our teach-the-teacher approach, developed with the respected educational organization Young Minds Inspired (YMI), empowers teachers by giving them a wide range of tools tailored for their grade level and subject matter. Those free curricula were developed with a range of educational partners, including YMI, Weekly Reader and Scholastic. The focus of our curricula is student empowerment; communicating how the U.S. Constitution gives each and every one of us rights and ownership over our creations.

It’s not easy starting a new organization; I’ve been through it twice in the last two years now! But the tremendous enthusiasm we’re receiving from educators across the country, who it turns out have been actively seeking resources like this, makes the labor worth it.
