If you’d like to get a glimpse of the art scene in San Francisco, Chicago, and New York City all in one evening, then you should stop by the Copyright Alliance’s EXPOnential on Tuesday where artists from each of these cities will be discussing their work and their careers.

The Copyright Alliance’s Third Annual EXPOnential will take place this Tuesday, November 17 from 5:00pm-7:00pm in the Cannon Caucus Room, 345, in the Cannon Caucus Building on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. All are invited to attend and mingle with representatives from various copyright industries, Hill staff, lawyers, educators, and of course, the artists.

This year’s theme, “Live from Main Street: Copyright and the Local Economy” will highlight how copyright protection is important for all communities throughout our nation. Washington, DC is full of representatives and transplants from cities all across the country. As an important reminder that copyright is one of the many components that help our home communities thrive, the Copyright Alliance will host a space designed as a local coffee shop. It will highlight the various copyright industries in the local economy, or on Main Street. The coffee lounge will be decorated with original works of art, books, and have multi-media capabilities.

Local metro DC artists have been invited to show their works in the coffee lounge. Cheryl Edwards of Washington, DC will display two oil paintings from a series of works she did about dolls. Sherill Anne Gross, a 2-D cut paper illustrator will be exhibiting two small works, one of a chess game and one of a lotus flower. Marisa Ross of Annandale, Virginia will exhibit a print entitled “Locked In.” And, Rob Rudick, a photographer from Takoma Park, Maryland will display a photograph of a 1958 Corvette.

EXPO attendees are also invited to listen in on conversations and presentations at the coffee lounge by three emerging artists throughout the duration of the event.

Chad Cameron, an illustrator who lives and works in San Francisco, has illustrated four children’s books, among other designs. His expertise has given him the opportunity to design illustrations for companies such as Coca-Cola, UPS, Yahoo!, Better Homes and Gardens, and Bank of America. His work has been featured in shows in San Francisco, New York, Washington, DC and Atlanta as well as part of a traveling show in Australia and South America. Chad also enjoys teaching aspiring artists at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.

Jonathan Ifergan is a founding member and lead vocalist for the band Color Radio in Chicago. The band has played extensively in Chicago venues and has toured the Midwest. With two independently published albums, the band is looking to 2010 with an East Coast Tour.

Natalie Neckyfarow of New York City is a classically trained ballet dancer. Natalie’s skill and comfort with being on stage has led her to pursue a career in acting. She has performed in a variety of live theatre venues, including Shakespeare and musical theatre. She has also worked in film and television and is currently working on a short film called “The Duel.”

The Copyright Alliance EXPOnential will be full of a variety of activities and interesting bits of information. From our nation’s capital to our local communities, attendees will see and experience how copyright impacts many aspects of the art and entertainment that we so enjoy.
