In what seems like an odd coincidence Google has seen fit to do exactly what Pilfered magazine has done and added copyrighted images to it's street maps product.
You can read about it here http://bit.ly/cy7cUO
Will we see the same reaction to this clear violation of copyright?
Isn't this worse as Google is clearly making money from this?
Even though these images may not be all be from professional photographers, shouldn't everyone should be entitled to same protections?

Hi Robert,

I just went to the site and it still has that passage on it from what I can see. It is good to keep monitoring the situation, though; we can't assume the worst is over.

It seems Pilfered has revised it's mission statement, removing the part; "In pursuit of this endeavor, we would like to continue receiving your suggestions and encourage you to help us build this platform by submitting only copyrighted and permission based content."

Same old game? Side Stepping the law? What's up?

[...] Snow exile, though bad for my personal economy, is good for catching up on a post or two and this past week was eventful. A wave of concerned Netizens mobilized and voiced valuable opinions regarding one of The Evils on the web, the use of images without permission. To sum it up, Pilfered magazine got busted. I won’t go into detail as they can be found at the Copyright Alliance. [...]
