In Syn©: Coming Soon to a Platform Near You: UltraViolet

Earlier this week a consortium of entertainment companies and organizations unveiled UltraViolet, a common file format designed to give consumers more choice and freedom when it comes to digital content. Still several months from beta testing, according to The Wrap, UltraViolet would allow consumers to watch digital video on almost any player they choose, from smartphones to TVs to Blu-ray players to game consoles, as well as burn DVD copies and share with family and friends.
