Copyright Alliance Executive Director Sandra Aistars made the following statement regarding Saturday’s scheduled signing of Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA):
“Consistent protection of intellectual property throughout the world is critical to the security of the 11.1 million American jobs supported by the copyright community. The Copyright Alliance commends the US Trade Representative as well as the actions of all governments who negotiated the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement and look forward to President Obama signing the Agreement.
“ACTA signifies a welcome recognition by the international community of the value of intellectual property rights, and we welcome measures taken by foreign governments to enforce IP rights consistently and effectively. This global commitment is an important step towards ensuring that artists and creators are rewarded for their labors and will continue to produce culturally enriching works.”
